Award-Winning, Destination Resort in Historic Cavallo Point

Nestled within 335 acres of parkland at the base of the Golden Gate, the award-winning Cavallo Point Lodge & Spa is comprised of 22 rehabilitated historic buildings and 14 new buildings sensitively integrated into the National Register Historic district. The rehabilitated buildings once served Fort Baker, a U.S. Army post built in the early 1900s.

The restoration work converted 22 historic buildings, comprised of army houses and barracks buildings, into 142 guestrooms, reception, meeting and retail spaces, Murray Circle restaurant, a premiere cooking school and commercial kitchen, and Farley Bar and lounge. The site's historic Mission Blue Chapel was restored and is now used primarily for wedding ceremonies and retreat functions. An old mine storage building was renovated for use as a laundry, storage and maintenance facility. The remaining structures, formerly officers’ quarters, are part of the Healing Arts Center that includes an eco-minded wellness center, spa services, pool and fitness room.

Located within the historic buildings on the premises are a total of 14,000 sq. ft. of high-end meeting rooms. The rooms are sub-dividable and contain state of the art Audio Visual systems for advance presentations. In addition, there is 12,500 sq. ft. of outdoor meeting areas that are connected by extensive lighted pathways. The original parade grounds were thoughtfully protected and preserved to recall the site's history.

The transformation of Fort Baker to Cavallo Point Lodge powerfully demonstrates the inter-relationship between preservation and sustainable design and has achieved USGBC LEED Gold certification. This historic landmark, on National Park Service land with stunning views of the San Francisco skyline, has been respectfully preserved for future generations as a center to advance the health, sustainability, and the protection of our environment.
