We are searching for a great SUPERINTENDENT reporting to a VP, Operations/Project Executive to join the Herrero team. What we’re looking for in a candidate and what the position entails follows: The Superintendent is accountable for the field and administration of work performed by Herrero and its Subcontractors. Promote production planning, safety of all field personnel, Built in Quality, scheduling and integration with the field leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with Corporate Safety Director or project specific Safety Manager to develop site specific safety plan and compliance with Herrero Injury Illness Prevention Program.
  • Ensure proper safety behavior and takes measures as needed for entire project and is the leader of safety culture.
  • Facilitate pre-construction with the subcontractors which includes review of: subcontractor scope, schedule and safety submittal compliance.
  • Responsible for accident and incident investigations onsite, facilitates meetings with trader partners to discover root cause of accidents or incidents, provides countermeasures to prevent a re-occurrence of such issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cal OSHA regulations and maintain compliance.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHPD requirements/guidelines and maintain compliance.
  • Support Herrero Built in Quality, Assurance that all materials and installations are installed in accordance with the intent of the design, applicable codes and customer expectations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized project site by implementation of lean principals.
  • Proficient with reading plans and specifications, implement and properly coordinate subcontractors to maintain schedule duration and achieve milestones.
  • Construct project within the estimated time and cost.  Closely monitors estimated versus actual costs and communicates with Project Manager of findings.
  • Accountable for Preparation of necessary reports (e.g. time sheets, work orders, daily reports and invoice approval).
  • Perform constructibility & scope reviews.
  • Lead MEP coordination.
  • Maintain proper field staffing on project.
  • Engage in visual, collaborative, and location-based planning to simulate production in the field and elevate the field coordination planning.
  • Support and empower Subcontractors/Trade Partner’s as well as individuals to bring lean principles to the field.
  • Develop project planning and construction activities, material and equipment staging and deliveries, and other logistic issues.
  • Excellent communication skills participate in Owners meetings and lead project all hands meetings.
  • Responsible for creating and maintain a collaborative culture for the sharing of information, asking questions and avoiding work arounds.
  • Actively work with the tradesmen on the floor to surface and identify challenges and identify waste in the work processes to facilitate solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Manage project labor requirements and validate cost estimates related to general conditions and cost of work for Herrero employees in field.
  • First point of contact for all personnel and Union issues/disputes at jobsite.
  • Proficient at tracking and documenting added scope and cost.
  • Work in conjunction PM’s and PX to maintain strong relationship with or customers.
  • Maintain positive relationship with design team and their consultants.
  • Advocate for all company policy’s and project delivery methods being used by Herrero Builders.
  • Participate in project pursuits and interviews.
  • Exemplifying trust and respect for all people and partners while challenging them and growing their capabilities.
  • Developing and enforcing standard process as a basis for eliminating waste and increasing reliability in the work we do.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree or equivalent experience.
  • Field construction experience at supervisory level with some as lead.  
  • Working knowledge of all crafts, has been/worked with foreman or journeyman in at least one trade.
  • Demonstrate the ability to supervise projects over 30 million in value.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA laws/regulations.
  • Knowledge of job scheduling, planning, expediting and cost control.
  • Ability in problem-solving.
  • Working knowledge of computers/Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel and View Point, P6 scheduling & project controls software, BIM360, PlanGrid & AutoCAD
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient at conflict resolution.
  • Clear knowledge of Lean practices and the ability to verbalize it.
  • Strong understanding of OSHPD regulations.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Understand and demonstrate scheduling principals.
  • Understand and demonstrate logistics and strategical planning.
  • Worked under a Senior Superintendent and Sub-Contractors in the field for a minimum of three years.
  • Excellent problem-solving and delegation skills.
  • Solid customer/client/sub-Contractor satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate the ability to supervise multiple projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Mentoring.
  • Represent Herrero externally industry wide.
  • Advocating for the Customer, for the Project and for all Stakeholders
  • Project as a Network of Commitments.
  • Demonstrates confidence in leadership skills.
  • Ability to think and plan long term.
