We are looking for a HR Generalist with broad experience in key areas of HR management – HR policies and procedures, HR compliance, Performance Management, Employee Benefits, Employee relations. The successful candidate will work with all levels of the Company and must demonstrate professional discretion, independent judgment, strong initiative and follow through, and a customer service orientation with a focus on developing and modeling the Herrero Builders Core values. This position will report to the Knowledge Area Leader, People. This position can be based in either our San Francisco or Walnut Creek location. Currently due to C-19, the individual will work largely from home. Longer term there will be an expectation that time be split between the 2 locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The HR Generalist will support the business by contributing to all aspects of the Human Resources function.  Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition,and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and practices referring complex and/or sensitive matters as appropriate. 
  • Act as an open door by listening to team members and collaborating with appropriate leaders to take action as needed.
  • Identify and recommend policy and/or procedure changes to improve employee experience while aligning with business needs/goals.
  • Work with HR leadership to anticipate and address specific talent and staffing needs for each area of the business.
  • Execute intentional recruiting efforts to help find and hire talent with the rightskills and experiences to meet business need. 
  • Facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants. Suppor trecruitment activity by preparing job descriptions based on business need, posting open positions, conducting interviews and performing reference checks and verification ofemployment requests. 
  • Handle employment related inquiries from applicants and recruiters and escalate asneeded. 
  • Coordinate college recruitment activities including representing HBI on campus. 
  • Responsible for timely and accurate imputing of New Hire Information and changes to employee records in Kronos Workforce Ready. 
  • ·Organize and maintain employee records and data in the HRIS (Workforce Ready).
  • Assume responsibility for HR compliance.  Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance. This includes all employee record keeping, EEOC reporting. Stay abreast with Federal, state, and local employment law changes.
  • Successfully execute all governmental reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner (EEOC).
  • Participates in benefits enrollment, renewal and review decisions and coordinate benefits Open Enrollment process. 
  • Partners with HR Leadership to address benefit questions and manage leaves of absences.
  • Assist with management of Leaves of Absence. 
  • Coordinate HBIs immigration activities, working closely with immigration attorney and HRteam members to ensure applications are executed in an accurate, timely, and ethical manner
  • Deliver on all Human Resources operational and cyclical programs (performance assessment, salary review, bonus program).
  • Design and implement employee recognition programs. 
  • Helps administer the Performance Assessment Process. 
  • Manage various employee programs in collaboration with HR and Learning team. 
  • Help administer HR related training programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Support the training needs of the company and be an advocate for continuous learning.
  • In collaboration with HR team, implement health and well-being initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • 3-4 years of Human Resource Coordinator or Generalist level work experience; PHR orfour-year degree in Human Resources or similar major are a plus.
  • Experience working with all levels of employees, including upper management.
  • Familiarity with full employee lifecycle.
