Transformation from Historic Barracks to Bed & Breakfast

The Presidio Trust selected Herrero Builders for the comprehensive facelift to its Inn at the Presidio occupying the historic Pershing Hall (Building 105). Located on Montgomery Street, facing the sweeping Presidio land and waterfront, Building 105 was the northernmost in a series of five identical army barracks buildings constructed between 1893 and 1897.

The rehabilitation created a new 42 guestroom bed & breakfast inn, called the Inn at the Presidio, that provides welcoming public spaces, such as a guest lounge, dining hall, commercial kitchen and meeting facilities, as well as guestrooms overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and historic Parade Ground. The intentional mix of modest to larger accommodations appeals to families, couples, individuals, upscale and budget travelers alike. Every room conveys a sense of the military past, National Park setting, and proximity of the ocean with color, finishes, park views and artwork.

Herrero's scope entailed the full gut and buildout, as well as seismic strengthening; egress/ingress modifications; and new mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing systems and sitework to achieve a LEED Gold rating.
