St. Mary's Catholic Center - Phase 1 Garage New Parking Structure 4 Story Subgrade Garage 66,000 square feet Reinforced Concrete Architect: Chong Partners Architecture The Phase 1 Subgrade Parking Structure of the St. Mary's Chinese Catholic Center will serve as the podium for the new 18-story, 105-unit new International Hotel senior housing tower and Manilatown Heritage Community Center, and the new St. Mary’s Chinese School. This complex project required waterproofing, hold downs, underpinnings and tie backs across numerous property lines and in and around sensitive structures and utilities. The site requires continuous dewatering since the water table ranges from 15-20 feet below street level while the excavation depth was 40’ below street level as shown at right. Located on Jackson between Kearny and Columbus, the completed garage serves the very busy downtown area bordering the Financial District, Chinatown, and North Beach. |
