UCSF 13th Floor ICU Project
Intensive Care Unit - UCSF Moffitt/Long Hospital
This project is part of the continual process of upgrades being undertaken in the Moffitt-Long Hospital on the Parnassus Campus. This project, currently under construction, consists of a $10.5 million renovation of the 13th floor of Moffitt Hospital to provide a new Intensive Care Unit and supporting infrastructure. The project includes 14 new single occupancy I.C.U. patient rooms, two negative pressure I.C.U. isolation rooms, charting areas, new administrative offices, structural modifications to the existing hospital’s penthouse to accommodate new mechanical equipment on the roof and new structural steel supporting an exhaust shaft running the height of the hospital’s top ten floors. Completion is scheduled for October ’08.
Herrero is held to the highest standards of construction within this occupied hospital facility including use of negative air machines to mitigate dust generation, implementation of infection control procedures and noise, vibration and schedule disruption planning. Herrero works closely with the hospitals staff and the design professionals to ensure the end product is functional and efficient.
