California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco Family Birthplace 13,000 square feet Type I, OSHPD Architect: Stone, Marraccini & Patterson Herrero has worked on many projects for California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) and is currently in preconstruction on the renovation of CPMC's Davies Campus in San Francisco. The Family Birthing Center, featured here, is a warm, inviting facility featuring private, cozy labor rooms that can quickly be converted to high-tech delivery rooms, with technical equipment concealed, yet immediately accessible. Herrero completed the birthing center in the midst of a busy, fully operating hospital. A change in the initial floor plan to a more complex plan, provided better views for patients. Other features include recessed lighting and illuminated floor panels for added comfort and intimacy. Walls and ceilings are specially insulated for high acoustical privacy. |
